Dr James Kinross a Consultant surgeon specialising in the gut microbiome at Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has published a new book, Dark Matter. the book explains the role of micro-organisms in our bodies and the impact on our health of their imbalance in our system and the world around us. His research interests include how the gut microbiome causes colorectal (bowel) cancer, how we can influence it to improve our health and the use of artificial intelligence for real-time decision support in the operating theatre. Dr Kinross’ is also an active researcher with interests spanning three NIHR BRC themes- Digestive Diseases, Surgery and Cancer and Infection and AMR.

Anji Gopal is a back care expert & founder of the BackCare Foundation. Her work is focused on using Yoga as an evidence-informed way to find better health. Over the last 15 years she has built an area of clinic al expertise in Yoga for BackCare and in 2016 established and still runs an innovative yoga-based programme for back pain patients in a London hospital. She is a passionate advocate of using practical, simple and powerful yoga techniques - in private practice, in the NHS, and as a teacher. Her combination of skills in yoga, back care and clinical practice are unique in the UK and she works with students and patients around the world.  She holds an M.Ost (Distinction) from the British School of Osteopathy, teaches at Triyoga (Europe’s biggest yoga centre), educates yoga teachers and other therapists in anatomy and her Yoga for BackCare methods, and runs her own clinic in London. In 2020 she was asked to contribute to the WHO benchmarks for training in Yoga on behalf of the NHS.  

As Co-founder and director Robert is part of the driving force behind our multidisciplinary approach. Robert has been strongly influenced by his mother, a chartered physiotherapist with 40 years’ experience. Robert graduated as an Osteopath in 2000 and subsequently furthered his education with postgraduate courses in medical acupuncture, electrotherapy and clinical Pilates (with the renowned Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). Among Robert’s special interest is the management of patients with chronic low back pain prompting him to have published a book on the subject aimed at being a detailed guide for patient’s (and physical therapy students) trying gained better understanding of the non surgical and surgical options;  BACK PAIN DECODED, available in print (and on Kindle) from Amazon. Robert is also involved with the education and support of other practitioners and clinics, he is UK lecturer and trainer on Class IV Laser Therapy, Shockwave Therapy, TECAR Therapy, and spinal MRI analysis. In 2024 Robert was appointed chairman of the Waltham Forest Osteopathic Group (comprised of Osteopathy clinic owners and associates in the Waltham Forest area). 

Lorraine Crookes is an expert in her field and a multi-award-winning speaker, columnist, educator, healer, and emerging stand-up comedian.   As the CEO of Orgasmic Life, Lorraine’s mission is to empower sex, intimacy and pleasure for health, wealth, and happiness. Lorraine has a unique approach that brings together bedroom and business and empower individuals to embrace sexual energy for a fulfilling life. She expertly blends together her personal journey, experience in education, vast knowledge, and impassive skill set with compassion and comedy.

Jonathan is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Specialist Hip Surgeon - he is one of only a few surgeons in the UK who specialise in all aspects of hip surgery.   He studied medicine at New College, Oxford and Imperial College before completing his orthopaedic training in London. This was followed by fellowship training in lower limb reconstruction at the Université de Montréal in Canada and in young adult hip surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. In 2022 he was awarded the prestigious Rothman-Ranawat travelling fellowship by the American Hip Society.  His specialist interests are in all aspects of hip surgery. He is experienced in advanced joint preservation techniques such as minimally invasive periacetabular osteotomy and hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) as well as hip reconstruction for other causes of hip pain in young patients.

Darren likes to take the time to understand the needs of his patients with complex conditions. His treatments combine his knowledge of biomechanics, neurology, nutrition and rehabilitation.  He teaches Functional Neurology and Developmental Neurology at postgraduate level to Chiropractors and other health professionals across Europe.  Darren regularly has patients referred to him from chiropractors and clinicians around the UK, the majority are children.  Married with four children, home life and work-life are busy! He enjoys getting into the countryside and walking or cycling with the family, cricket, learning and sleep.  In 2023 Darren became the Director of Academic Affairs for the Royal College of Chiropractors, Paediatric and Pregnancy Faculty.  His studies have taken him around Europe and to America as he has learned from experts in many professions, below is a list of his training. 

Professor Owen Epstein is a renowned and pioneering professor of gastroenterology, based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. He has a special interest in the innovation of healthcare and the technologies used to ease the patient journey. These include whole bowel wireless capsule (pill) endoscopy and hydrogen or 13C breath testing variously for lactose intolerance, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, Helicobacter pylori, stomach pump function and colon cancer screening using minimally invasive colon capsule endoscopy. He also has considerable experience in the physiological assessment of the vagus nerve and stress and, in particular, its relationship to abnormal gut feelings. Professor Epstein has had a hugely successful career and is regarded as one of the leaders in minimally-invasive techniques and a gentler patient journey.

James is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and member of the British Osteopathic Association. Having qualified with First Class Honours from the British School of Osteopathy in 2003. He has enjoyed periods of undergraduate and postgraduate lecturing, particularly in areas of sports medicine, tendon related disorders and shockwave therapy. He also enjoys hosting the Shockwave Therapy Podcast and collaborating with other health professionals for Abbeyfields’ new service for treating Men’s Health conditions such as ED (Erectile Dysfunction). His interests include complex pain syndromes, sports injuries and biomechanics, headaches/pain, foot problems, and plantar fasciitis

Jerry leads our practice in Abingdon. He combines hands-on clinical work with significant research and academic roles, serving as the Director of the National Council for Osteopathic Research and Associate Professor at the Health Sciences University in London. This blend of clinical practice and research ensures his treatment approaches are informed by the latest evidence and best practices. He completed his Doctorate in Osteopathy in 2016, focusing his research on low back pain. He has since become a leading voice in osteopathic research, publishing extensively in scientific journals and contributing to the development of the profession. His research and clinical interests include: Relief of musculoskeletal pain, including back pain, neck pain and joint pain Management of persistent (chronic) pain conditions Treatment of nerve-related pain, including sciatica Evidence-based approaches to patient care
