Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression – Rob Shanks

As Co-founder and director Robert is part of the driving force behind our multidisciplinary approach. Robert has been strongly influenced by his mother, a chartered physiotherapist with 40 years’ experience. Robert graduated as an Osteopath in 2000 and subsequently furthered his education with postgraduate courses in medical acupuncture, electrotherapy and clinical Pilates (with the renowned Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). Among Robert’s special interest is the management of patients with chronic low back pain prompting him to have published a book on the subject aimed at being a detailed guide for patient’s (and physical therapy students) trying gained better understanding of the non surgical and surgical options;  BACK PAIN DECODED, available in print (and on Kindle) from Amazon. Robert is also involved with the education and support of other practitioners and clinics, he is UK lecturer and trainer on Class IV Laser Therapy, Shockwave Therapy, TECAR Therapy, and spinal MRI analysis. In 2024 Robert was appointed chairman of the Waltham Forest Osteopathic Group (comprised of Osteopathy clinic owners and associates in the Waltham Forest area).

Demystifying Young Hip Pain – Jon Hutt

Jonathan is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Specialist Hip Surgeon - he is one of only a few surgeons in the UK who specialise in all aspects of hip surgery.   He studied medicine at New College, Oxford and Imperial College before completing his orthopaedic training in London. This was followed by fellowship training in lower limb reconstruction at the Université de Montréal in Canada and in young adult hip surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. In 2022 he was awarded the prestigious Rothman-Ranawat travelling fellowship by the American Hip Society.  His specialist interests are in all aspects of hip surgery. He is experienced in advanced joint preservation techniques such as minimally invasive periacetabular osteotomy and hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) as well as hip reconstruction for other causes of hip pain in young patients.

Neurodevelopmental Disorders -Darren Barnes-Heath

Darren likes to take the time to understand the needs of his patients with complex conditions. His treatments combine his knowledge of biomechanics, neurology, nutrition and rehabilitation.  He teaches Functional Neurology and Developmental Neurology at postgraduate level to Chiropractors and other health professionals across Europe.  Darren regularly has patients referred to him from chiropractors and clinicians around the UK, the majority are children.  Married with four children, home life and work-life are busy! Vagus Nerve – Owen Epstein

Professor Owen Epstein is a renowned and pioneering professor of gastroenterology, based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. He has a special interest in the innovation of healthcare and the technologies used to ease the patient journey. These include whole bowel wireless capsule (pill) endoscopy and hydrogen or 13C breath testing variously for lactose intolerance, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, Helicobacter pylori, stomach pump function and colon cancer screening using minimally invasive colon capsule endoscopy. He also has considerable experience in the physiological assessment of the vagus nerve and stress and, in particular, its relationship to abnormal gut feelings. Professor Epstein has had a hugely successful career and is regarded as one of the leaders in minimally-invasive techniques and a gentler patient journey.

James is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and member of the British Osteopathic Association. Having qualified with First Class Honours from the British School of Osteopathy in 2003. He has enjoyed periods of undergraduate and postgraduate lecturing, particularly in areas of sports medicine, tendon related disorders and shockwave therapy. Jerry leads our practice in Abingdon. He combines hands-on clinical work with significant research and academic roles, serving as the Director of the National Council for Osteopathic Research and Associate Professor at the Health Sciences University in London. This blend of clinical practice and research ensures his treatment approaches are informed by the latest evidence and best practices. He completed his Doctorate in Osteopathy in 2016, focusing his research on low back pain. Robert “Skip” George, D.C. previously practiced chiropractic in San Diego and La Jolla, CA from 1980-2021, and recently moved to Logan, Utah. Men’s Health – Prostate Screening – Bill Ribbans & Allan Lamb

Professor Bill Ribbans is a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and Professor of Sports Medicine. Bill qualified from the Royal Free Hospital, London in 1980. As a junior doctor he trained in London before undertaking Fellowships in Sheffield and at Harvard University. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. He was a Consultant at the Royal Free from 1991-1996 and then at Northampton General Hospital 1996-2012. Bill has been trained and practised in all aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery but has principal interests in the lower limb particularly the knee, ankle and foot. Presently about 40% of his patients travel from outside of Northamptonshire and 35% attend seeking second opinions. The spectrum of patients range from children over 10 years old to the elderly.
